Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton that attracted attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mostly, and four songs in the year 2016. At the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish were included in the Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 hits that fall into this category. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 and soon after famous artists started working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) as well as Madonna was a part of Medellin with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation like Rauw Alejandro was keen to continue the evolution. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
